Policies

  • Deposits

    • $150 deposit

    • Goes towards the final price of of your design/session

    • Deposits are non-refundable and used to ensure your booking slot

  • Late

    • Grace period of 20 minutes

    • After 20 minutes a late fee of $25 will be required before the start of the appointment

    • After 40 minutes, you will be considered a no-show and will have to provide another deposit to be able to schedule again

  • Cancellation/ Reschedule

    • Must notify Josh at least 48 hours before appointment time if you would like to reschedule

    • You may reschedule ONCE without submitting another deposit

    • Rescheduling a 2nd time will require another deposit of $150

  • No-Show

    • A no-show will result in a forfeit of the $150 deposit and may result in a ban of future appointments

  • FAQs

    • Do I Have to Tip? How much should I tip?

      • Tips are appreciated but not required. You can leave a tip of however much you want to give. There is no standard “percentage” or price that is expected.

    • Minimum

      • Josh has a tattoo minimum of $150. Whether it is a small tattoo or a full-day session. This is the deposit that is put down to secure your appointment slot.

    • Pricing

      • Pricing is based on either the design or by sessions.

    • Session Estimation

      • An estimation on how many sessions your design may take is just that, an estimation. It may take more or less but the price will be adjusted accordingly.

    • Coverup?

      • Josh does do coverups and blast overs. 

        • Coverups will fully cover the previous tattoo while blast overs will cover a majority of the tattoo with some of the previous tattoo being slightly visible but unrecognizable

      • Please note that the design idea you may have might not be able to completely cover your previous tattoo. If so please be flexible with possible design ideas to make your vision come to life.

    • Guests in shop?

      • One guest is allowed with you at your appointment. Any additional guests may be asked to leave.

    • Kids in shop?

      • No kids are allowed at appointments due to shop policy. Children are anyone under the age 18 years old.

    • Location? Parking?

      • Josh works at Gremlins Tattoo Lounge in Hyattsville, MD. Parking is paid by meter.

      • Please note that the parking available is paid by meters and may need additional time to find and pay. Please plan accordingly to get to the shop, find a spot, pay for parking, and be at your appointment on time.

      • Parking is currently $0.50 an hour

    • Touchups?

      • If you would like a touchup for a tattoo please reach out to Josh and see if a touchup is necessary. Depending on how much you would like touched up there may be a fee but small touchups are free.

    • Walk-ins?

      • Josh does not take walk-ins unless specified for a specific event at the Gremlins Tattoo Lounge

    • Minimum age?

      • The minimum age to receive a tattoo is 18 years old.

    • Design

      • Can I see the design before the appointment?

        • Most if not all of Josh’s work is custom made so unfortunately, due to time restraints, art theft, etc., he is unable to show the design prior to the appointment. We ask that you trust him as the artist

      • Changes?

        • There will be time to make changes to your design if you are not happy with how it looks. Depending on how many changes you would like may extend your session time. Please try to be as clear as possible with your tattoo idea when consulting with Josh so he can create a design you will love.

    • Numbing cream?

      • While you can purchase numbing cream online, it is not recommended to use unless necessary. If getting a color tattoo, using numbing cream can affect how the color goes into the skin and the healing process. This may cause a need for a touch-up appointment to make sure the tattoo is perfect.

      • Although it’s not recommended, If you do choose to use numbing cream, please make sure to apply GENEROUSLY to the area, wrap in saran wrap, and let it sit on the skin for AT LEAST 30 minutes before your appointment.

    • Tattoo prep for clients?

      • Please make sure to eat a full meal, drink plenty of water, and bring a snack or plan to break for lunch if you schedule a full day session.

      • Please DO NOT shave the area before you arrive to your session. To ensure the area is clean and in the best condition to be tattooed, Josh will shave the necessary area with a sterile razor.

      • Shaving before the appointment may cause irritation to the skin that may result in having to reschedule your appointment

    • Tattoo Aftercare

      • After 1 hour, remove the bandage gently and wash with warm water and unscented antibacterial soap. DO NOT REBANDAGE.

      • Apply a thin film of Aquafor or Unscented Lubriderm 2-3 times a day; the first 3 days are the most important!

      • Stay out of sunlight and tanning booths until the tattoo is healed, at least 7-10 days

      • Do not soak your tattoo in the tub, sauna, jacuzzi, or go swimming while the tattoo is healing. Showers are fine.

      • Do not rub or pick at the treated area while it is healing. Loss of color and/or infection could occur.

        • If you believe your tattoo is infected please notify Josh to confirm and see your doctor for proper treatment ASAP.

      • Extreme sun and exposure over the years can and WILL fade your tattoo. This can be minimized by using a strong sunscreen, at least SPF25.

      • Your tattoo should fully heal in 2-4 weeks.
